1) Dogs can learn words

According to a scientific study published in Nature, dogs can learn thousands of words. This came before earlier research showing that dogs can understand human tones. Now, scientists have proven that dogs not only understand human tones but can also learn the vocabulary of human language and infer meaning from human gaze and gestures. This proves that dogs are smarter than we think.

2) Ban on bear farming

According to People magazine, South Korea has taken a step forward towards bear conservation and has put a holistic ban on bear farming. Bear farming was done to extract bile juice from the gallbladder of the animal to sell it as a pharmacy product. 

Bears were kept in small cages in inhumane conditions, which led to their exploitation. A complete ban on their farming is a step towards acknowledging animal rights. This planet belongs to all the species equally and should not be used just for human greed.

3) The European Union (EU) banned the destruction of unsold clothes

In the fashion industry, every year, unsold clothes are burned, and new designs take their place. This leads to 5 million tonnes of Carbon dioxide emissions by EU countries alone every year. A ban on unsold cloth destruction will help reduce this emission, which will lead to a cleaner environment. Also, the EU has proposed recycling, reusing and donating these clothes, which will generate social awareness and reduce poverty. 

4) All women’s anti-poaching groups in Africa 

International Anti-Poaching Foundation has appointed two remarkable all-women anti-poaching units in Africa: Akashinga, meaning “The Brave Ones” in Zimbabwe, and Black Mambas in South Africa. This is done to help protect wildlife and combat poaching. 

According to the report, the foundation has trained women from disadvantaged backgrounds and violence survivors to protect elephants, rhinos, and other wildlife. These women ranger groups have been given military-style training and work in various protected zones like

Kruger National Park and also unreserved areas. The good news is that since their appointment in 2017, the poaching rate has decreased by 60 per cent, according to the IAPF report 2026. 

5) India won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 

On 8th March 2026, the Indian men’s cricket team won the ICC T20 World Cup by defeating New Zealand at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
